European Day of Languages: A Linguistic Mosaic and Stories from Hotel President Solin

26.09.2024.

Every year on September 26, we celebrate European Day of Languages, an event that reminds us of the wealth and diversity of languages around the world. At President Hotels, this diversity is not celebrated just one day – it is lived every day. Our guests come from all corners of the globe, and through their languages and customs, we get the chance to experience the world in a whole new way.

The Linguistic World on Our Hotel Shelves

As you walk through the halls of Hotel President Solin, you’ll notice a detail that reflects this rich cultural diversity - our shelves filled with books left by our guests. Here you can find books in Chinese, Danish, Spanish, French, and many other languages. Each one tells its own story and brings a piece of someone’s culture into our hotel.

For us, these books are not just souvenirs! Each one carries a memory of the people who visited us and shared a part of their world with us.

Summer 2024: Diversity in Numbers

By analyzing guest data from July 1 to August 31, 2024, we discovered that, in addition to domestic guests, the largest number of visitors came from France. A remarkable 10.38% of our guests during this period hailed from that country, making French the most commonly spoken language in our halls after English!

Following closely, Chinese was the second most prevalent language, thanks to guests from Taiwan, who made up 9.65% of all visitors during that time. Their presence added a special tone to our hotel, connecting Eastern and Western cultures under our roof.

Naturally, English dominated, as guests from the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom formed a large part of our summer visitor base.

Spanish was also frequently heard in our hotel, as 7.20% of our guests came from Spain. The Swedish language could be heard thanks to 2.37% of guests from that country, while guests from the Netherlands constituted 2.29% of all visitors, and from Denmark 2.13%. Their languages, along with Norwegian, German, and many others, contributed to our vibrant atmosphere!

An International Center of Diversity

We take pride in hosting people from all over the world, allowing them to feel at home while simultaneously exploring local customs and culture. Our hotel is not just a place for relaxation but a space where languages and cultures create unforgettable stories.

On European Day of Languages, we proudly highlight that our hotel embodies these values - every day, all year round. Our doors are always open for new stories, new languages, and new friends!
